Yeah. I think I'd be content if radiohead came back every year.
But I think it'd be epic especially with their new album.

Alright, time to scratch down my mental list and then I can add to it later.
No ideas for major headliners just yet.
The Black Diamond Heavies - This 2 piece is like Tom Waits in church. Friggin' pentocostal rock with soul and kicks.
Superdrag - Yes, I am dead serious. They would kill on a shed stage, maybe Thursday night. Also, while in line for the porta-potty last year, my wife overheard a group of young guys talking about how they needed a Superdrag show at Roo (no shit, came out of left field).
Mono - build, build, build then pummel over the head.
LSD and the Search for God - Recently got into these guys. Very YLT-ish.
Earl Greyhound - like Zep meets Sloan.
Drag the River - I love these guys and haven't had the chance to see them live. Chad Price from ALL is in the band so they gotta kick ass.
Stewart Pack - A local that hasn't played at Bonnaroo yet. He's on top of his game right now. How can anyone not dig this?
MMJ - Bring'em back for a late night set on a larger stage. Maybe the same stage and time slot that the Lips had last year. Huge crowd, killer live show.
David Ford - A perfect way to kick off a Sunday morning.
1220 - They've been waiting for an invite for 3 years. Would be a fun tent/cafe show for sure.
MBV - Just had to toss that out there. You know, we can dream.

hell yeah! i love them... i've been digging them a lot lately too.
that would be cool.
also, beck was one of my all-time favorites.
i really love brian jonestown massacre - that would be awesome
superdrag would be hella fun - wonder if they'd do it though :)
i wish we could go back in time and have nirvana...

for real! i think people would enjoy him too. he's way better than some of the local bands that have already played... no offense to any of them, of course. but yeah, stewart's great and a huge music lover, so he'd have fun too.

Some good ideas here. Bruce could work real well and Superdrag would probably do it and be great. Wu Tang might be a trip even though I don't know a whole lot about Wu I would check it out.

My monthly plug for Shiina Ringo/Tokyo Jihen.
Seriously AC -- she's already a gigantic superstar in Japan (something like 4 or 5 #1 or #2 albums, plus buttloads of hit singles), she's got a intensely cultish following here, Jihen has gigantic chops as a band and are even better live than on record, she's a total hottie, and a US Jihen concert would get huge buzz. If they have any interest in the US market, Bonnaroo would be the perfect place to start. The only downside is that their latest album is kinda...eh. But it probably plays tons better live.
And bring along Soil and Pimp Sessions, and Boris, too.
Also -- Bitter:Sweet would be great for Sundown.

i'm kind of hoping the rumors about led zeppelin and metallica aren't true. i mean, i'd hang around to watch either of them, but catering to the nostalgia set will never be as good as seeing a band in its prime (a la radiohead).
see also: the pretty universally disappointing police set.
unless the roo is now so lucrative it can afford to bring john bonham and cliff burton back from the dead. in which case... carry on.

Led Zeppelin Singer To Perform At Bonnaroo
Robert Plant To Take Stage With Allison Krauss
POSTED: 12:14 pm CST December 11, 2007
UPDATED: 12:42 pm CST December 11, 2007
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Two singers with very different styles will play together at Bonnaroo in 2008.
Led Zeppelin lead singer Robert Plant will take the stage with Bluegrass singer Allison Krauss.
The two made an album together called "Raising Sand,” which was released in October. The album has already sold more than 340,000 copies.
Plant and his other bandmates in Led Zeppelin played their first full concert in decades on Monday night in London.
In addition to their Bonnaroo gig, Krauss and Plant will also tour the U.S. and Europe next year.
The 2008 edition of Bonnaroo is set for June 12 through 15 in Manchester.

Hello all, I am new to the knoxblab boards as of today. Last night I witnessed my favorite local band since I moved to Knoxville four years ago. The Dirty Guv'nahs at Barley's was one of my favorite shows I have ever seen, period. I had never even heard of those guys but they had Barleys totally packed out, one of the biggest crowds I have ever seen there. I am a big supporter of local music in general and I have now found my band to get behind. That front man is insane!
The Dirty Guv'nahs at Bonnaroo 2008!
Thanks Funhouse for introducing me to this band and these boards. Let's help get them at the 'Roo.

Yes their front man did end up on the ground, not sure what happened there. That guy was all over the place getting people to go nuts. I know I have been talking about them alot lately but I was really blown away by their performance. Unfortunately I don't see any Knoxville shows up on their site for the next little while. Anyways they are worth seeing if nothing else for the front man alone. Total insanity.

I have to say, that I am somewhat dissappointed. There are a few bands that I would like to see, but overall not that great of lineup.
Pearl Jam, Metallica, bleh...
M.I.A., Gogol Bordello, Willie, yeah...
Raconteurs, Avett brothers, Robert Randolph, hmm..
okay, after flipping through some of the rumor boards, i'm now kinda hoping metallica is playing, as it seems they'll weed out a bunch of whiny, pantywaist hippies.

the same whiny, pantywaist hippies that you played for last year?
no. a completely different set of whiny pantywaist hippies.
you would prefer a frat crowd?
hell, i'd prefer any crowd. we played during the white stripes last year.
...
i ain't gonna lie, i'm the least excited about the headliners as i've ever been, but the rest of the lineup is pretty solid. big variety. taking some risks there with the metal too.

man, i've seen a lot these bands already - several times for some of them... several times at bonnaroo!
i am interested to see MIA (finally), sigur ros, MGMT, black kids, krauss/plant, lez zeppelin (that's hott!), levon...
i've never seen any of them before...
it will still be fun, i was just hoping for better headliners. if this was 1994 i'd be shitting my pants though.
also, there are usually bands added onto the list later, so hopefully we'll have some cool add-ons.

Initial thoughts- Sideways thumb.
I am not one of those guys that bitches about Bonnaroo "changing". In fact, I am glad it has become a festival for ALL types of music.
I could be happier with the headliners for sure. Metallica's not my thing at all, but Pearl Jam will be cool.
I like Jack Johnson but not as one of the "major" artists. Seeing Jack up there with an acoustic guitar in fromt of 80000 people isn't exactly that much fun to me.
Overall most excited about:
Pearl Jam
Plant / Krauss
Levon Helm
My Morning Jacket
Drive-by Truckers
Avett Brothers
Plenty of good bands to see for sure, just not the best bonnaroo lineup ever in my opinion. Still the best festival in the country.

levon helm... very cool.
robert randolph revival... could have alot of potential.
my morning jacket... totally essential for the roo.
sigur ros.... most def will be there.
Ozomatli..... again???

i hope we still get some more rockers like The Black Keys, The Black Crowes, and Grace Potter and the Nocs..... there's enough indie and rap on there already.

Now that the Allmanns have had to cancel, I'm expecting something good and not some lame "carrot top will be in comedy tent" addition. I need somebody to push me over the limit and make me purchase a ticket. I have never waited this long to buy mine but I need something or someone to tilt the scales in favor of going. Does this announcement have the potential to do it?

Snore. That was a big announcement. Doesn't Panic play near every year? How about Bonnaroo become Bonnarelevant again. The best festival just got trumped by acl, coachella and lollapalooza. I'm bummed. Sorry to some of the locals that work for the festival, but this just keeps getting more lame with every announcement. Here's hoping you have something big up your sleeve or this is a belated april fool joke.

speaking of logistical issues, the schedule is once again a nightmare of conflicting must-sees. although thursday looks like a no-brainer.

I glanced over it. Friday looks kind loooong day. I didn't plan out a schedule. Must figure out if I'm even going first.
