did anyone see Phoenix? we didnt get there till Sat. and i was bummed i missed that show. was wondering how they are live.

they were great. surpassed expectations. they played a lot off wolfgang as well as some of the best of all the previous records. probably the best board mix all weekend, too.

I was right in front of the speakers. Unfortunately the base drum was set to 11. With every beat it sounded (and felt) like a hand grenade went off and the sonic force rearranged my internal organs. After a couple of songs I moved to the back but it still sounded thud like (as Captain Beefheart would say).
The crowd was enthused and the music was catchy. I'd like to see them again but without the acoustic weaponry.

bass freqs do weird things depending on where you are standing

i highly suggest if it's thudding into your very being- move back a long way

they definitely go for the loud crack type of kick vs. the soft boomy type. and i do remember it was clipping through the first song and a half, but i think they got it settled down pretty quick.

I thought they sounded excellent where I was standing (back left). I didn't know much of their stuff going in and they impressed me.
