Westside Daredevils
Neko Case
A.C. Newman

Rolling Stones

Damn KAG, the Stones. As long as your aiming for that, think we could specify they only do stuff from '68 to '72?

If Ron Wood is back on the wagon then how about The Faces. I know Ronnie Lane died, but I believe the others could pull it off. Get Rod out of his sappy dad music phase he's been in.

kag
09-29-2006, 11:13 AM
I think we need a double bill with the Stones and the WSDD on the same stage - the big one!

I believe Ashley can make this happen.

Ashley?

Oh, forgot to toss out some names.

Secret Machines
Robert Pollard
Neil Young
Arcade Fire
Built to Spill
Wolfmother
Drive-By Truckers
My Morning Jacket (again) - On a larger stage since they've outgrown the tent. One of the highlights of my Bonnaroo experience
Comets on Fire
Clutch - This may seem like a weird one, but live they are like straight ahead heavy jam band that I think would go over quite well and blow some minds
Flaming Lips - Just because they're the Lips

And I was serious about my Faces mention in the previous post :D
Also, KAG mentioned the Dixie Chicks and I think that could go over huge in that setting. Would probably be a very weird show that could very well kick ass.

I'll second Neil Young. We got there late in '03 and only saw about 45 minutes of his set.

Any chance Herbie Hancock would do another 'roo? That was probably my favorite show last year.

Liz Phair
Darrell Scott
Tony Furtado
Steve Earle
Peter Gabriel (does he even tour anymore?)
Buena Vista Social Club

Okay, that's it for now.

Georgia
09-29-2006, 03:24 PM
Peter Gabriel (does he even tour anymore?)

Seems like he was in Philly not that long ago.

kag

Definitely Liz Phair!

Rhett Miller
Tim Lee Band (again)
Wilco
Justin Timberlake (Yes, I want some SexyBack. )
Raconteurs
Sons of Phere (again)
Scissor Sisters
The Wreckers

here's the quick list i came up with in the 3 minutes i've got left at work. on top of any of the acts i caught last year, i'd love to see:

new pornos
the shins
drive by truckers
the high strung
the comas
bob pollard
cheap trick
m. ward
de la soul
mf doom
outkast
the flaming lips
matmos
akron/family
glossary
nathan asher and the infantry
the bell rays
blowfly
os mutantes
erykah badu
james brown
parliament/funkadelic
teenage fanclub
spoon
the features
de novo dahl
belle and sebastian
the beastie boys
sparklehorse
ham1
the mattoid
a tribe called quest
lady sovereign
missy elliot
neil young
matthew sweet
gwar
of montreal
apples in stereo
the futureheads
the long winters
big star
calexico
lupe fiasco
ghostface
wilco
ladytron
daft punk
decemberists
robert earl keene
animal collective

and yeah, there are a handful of local acts that are ready to go.

and yeah, the daredevils would absolutely be down. honestly, we'd do it just to be there.

Yep. I can dig Jeffs list (although I don't do Belle & Sebastian).
Also, I caught The BellRays open for Clutch 2 weeks ago and they were stellar. Nice folks too. The disc has been in the car ever since.

jeffx
10-02-2006, 01:17 PM
a few more i came up with/caught over the weekend:

eric bachmann
anderson council
the upper crust
blackstar/mos/talib kweli
the shazam
doves
the hold steady
nas
sloan
gang starr
pharcyde
ambulance ltd
blue man group
phoenix
willie bygod nelson

i know i've made mostly rockist and hip hop suggestions; i've just been aiming for stuff i know would go over well with the crowds i witnessed in 2006, leaning heavy on the psychedelic and/or booty-shaking side of things.

i'd love to suggest some good jam bands, but i'm just not as familiar with that scene. and considering you can't throw a stick without hitting a jam band these days, i'm sure any suggestions i might have are hardly useful.

but i think variety was easily 06's strongest point, and i would implore the powers that be to aim for similar goals in 07.

gypsy

konono no.1
sean paul (or some kinda poppy dancehall -- t.o.k. would be nice...)
field mob (i know most of the georgia hip-hop stuff might be too hardcore, but i think field mob would go down big -- and probably don't cost what the bigger names do. plus, how apt a name is "field mob" for bonnaroo?)
m.i.a. (she should have a new album out by then)
boris
ooioo
acid mothers temple
bob dylan
tony joe white
black lips
green day (just because they're so much fun live)

and...kelis!

B-Boy

Not so fast, Gypsy. W has her on the "no fly" list for the US, so she cannot even come get her some Diplo when some want some. And I wish I was telling an untruth, but I am not.

Pat Benetar with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, and no, I'm not being facetious in the least. But I'd like to see this at Bonnaroo, not at the Tennessee Theatre or whatever.

Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing it at the Tennessee Theatre, now that I think of it. But that'd kick ass at Bonnaroo.

go balls to the wall and get brian wilson to do smile.

i realize it's a little silly for me to keep popping out suggestions, but frankly i'm having fun with the challenge of trying to put together a virtual lineup that would rival and/or surpass last year's. it's easy enough for me to come up with small/medium acts, but i'll admit to being a little stumped as far as the main stage goes.

To the enth.

If some acts are playing...this definitely needs to be one of them...plus the fan base in Nashville is huge. I can put it simple, this band...arguably...is/are and will continue to make the best, catchiest, hum-along sing-a-song tunes that any band dare to match. And the best part is these guys are as humble as they get.

Universal wants to make you money by covering "All You Need Is Love" for a credit card commercial...and knowing that telling them NO will get you dropped...and yet still tell them no = Integrity.

You don't cover the best band ever for a financial institution that will charge you 24%, but tell you that all you need is love.
