i wondered about that as well, but just thought i must not be in the know on it.
So which of you blabbers has ever called Knoxville "the couch?"
I've lived here since 1982, was here before that from 1970-1975, and have visited here all my life. I was also born here, but can't claim to remember the 7 months before we moved away.
New one on me.
Update: Sorry, in spite of looking for it, I missed the other thread on this topic. But I'm still curious about the "couch" thing.

"i only wanna...
oh, i just wanna...
oh, i don't want anything..."
Never heard that either. Also, "Austin without the hype"?
I think lots of cities refer to themselves as "Austin without the hype."
Just a minute ago, a coworker told me an old boyfriend of hers had indeed frequently referred to Knoxville as "the couch."

"i only wanna...
oh, i just wanna...

I have been comparing Knoxville to a big comfy pillow for a while now. I could see people calling it a couch.
"It's a good thing there isn't a commandment in the Decalogue that simply says "Don't Be an Asshole," because a lot of American Christians would be in trouble right about now. And before you send me an email saying "I'm a Christian and we're not all like that," first write an email to a Christian you know who is like that."-J. Rowland
Take care, be good, & spread some around.
